JUST HOW ARE THE SUPER DELEGATES AND WHO MADE THEM BETTER THAN US.
If Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton cannot resolve their Democratic presidential battle, maybe the "superdelegates" can. The states of Michigan and Florida could also lend a hand.[R]
SUPER DELEGATES AN ELITE YOU CAN GROW TO HATE!
Many Democrats worry that super delegates will override the will of voters and their prominence has sparked a broad debate about their role.[R]
A SUPER SECRETE MEETING TO SAVE THE SUPER DELEGATES AND... OH BY THE WAY THE ELECTED COMMON MAN DELEGATES
The Florida and Michigan Democratic congressional delegations will meet together behind closed doors this evening to discuss their respective convention delegate situations.[M]
THE COMMON DEMOCRATS IN BOTH STATES SHOULD REVOLT, BUT HOW? I'M ALL IN HOW ABOUT YOU?
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton won both the Michigan and Florida contests, and as the race becomes a delegate-by-delegate brawl, her campaign has been working to get the delegates seated. There is growing unease with the situation in the Democratic Party, especially given Florida’s election history, and there’s even talk of a revote in those states. [NY]
THE SUPER DELEGATES SPEAK,WE WANT WHATS OURS.
The governors ,SUPER DELEGATES,of Michigan and Florida are saying it's increasingly important that Democratic and Republican delegates from the two states be seated. [USA]
What they are really saying that they have both staked their reputation as national leaders on the Clinton failing campaign and have done all in their power to manipulate a false victory for Clinton in Florida and Michigan.[trb]
RULES ARE RULES EXCEPT FOR US
Michigan and Florida, which lost their delegates in a dispute with the Democratic National Committee, also could play a role in reaching the magic number[R]
But only if the National Dems cave in.[trb]
SEAT US, SEAT US.... SAY THE SUPER DELEGATES
The governors of Michigan and Florida are saying it's increasingly important that Democratic and Republican delegates from the two states be seated.[USA]
What is increasingly apparent is that the old school leaders of the National Democratic Party picked Clinton as their flower child to remain in power last year. They kept candidates out of Michigan and Florida by intentionally violating the primary date rules of the National Democratic party to deliver a vote to Clinton. Now caught with their pants down they howl that the people have spoken when in reality the people have beEn manipulated , ...by them.[trb]
WE ARE SKEPTICAL SAY SOME! WHY NOT JUST PISSED OFF.
Rep Alecc Hastings..He dismissed the notion that the GOP-controlled Florida legislation would allow Dems a "do-over," and regards the comments attributed today to Gov. Crist with skepticism. Hastings says the cost of such a re-do would be between $18 million and 20 million.[M]
IT’S A PARTY CONVENTION, EFFECTIVELY PRIVATE , TWO STATES HAD UNSANCTIONED CONTESTS WHY SHOULD ANY DELEGATE FROM THEIR STATE BE SEATED?
Clinton won unsanctioned contests in both states, although the candidates did not campaign in them and Obama removed his name from the ballot in Michigan. Officials in both states renewed calls to settle the dispute so their delegates can be seated.[R]
The spokespersons you read here are super delegates who were anointed to their seats long ago in a place far FAR AWAY. Regular delegates are to be elected at Congressional caucus March 29th , BE THERE AND BE LOUD.[trb]
Both campaigns have intensely courted the more than 350 superdelegates who remain uncommitted. A significant movement toward either candidate could decide the race.[R]
Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist said Wednesday in a joint release it's "reprehensible" the voices of 5.2 million people who voted in the two primaries would be silenced.[USA]
Whats reprehensible is that these leaderS allowed this debacle to occur. The rules of the DNC must be followed or they mean nothing.[trb]
WE REAP WHAT WE HAVE SOWED AND WILL WHINE AND WHINE ABOUT IT
"It is intolerable that the national political parties have denied the citizens of Michigan and Florida their votes and voices at their respective national conventions," they said.[USA]
These governor set up this quandary the blame is theirs.[trb]
STRIPPED IS NOT ALWAYS BAD
Both states had their Democratic delegates stripped by the Democratic National Committee for moving up their primaries against party rules. The Republican National Committee stripped Michigan of half its 60 national convention delegates, although state Republicans recently picked the full complement of delegates. Republicans are not calling for another election.[USA]
DO IT AGAIN AND DO IT RIGHT
DNC officials have suggested to both Michigan and Florida that holding another presidential contest of some kind would be one way to get the Democratic delegates seated. Both states say caucuses would be very expensive to run.[USA]
It’s the only answer but the PROBLEM is that Obama will sweep Michigan and Florida and win the nomination. The leaders are not for the full voting participation of the common Dems, they are for the continued power of the SUPER Dem’s. Yes its true the party of the common man has an aristocracy.[trb]
JUST WHO CONTROLS THE CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE..THEY DO
The two states also could appeal this summer to the DNC Credentials Committee to get their delegates seated.[USA] Politics is the application of negotiation , intrege, lying and raw power, anything can happen.[trb]
"We've said all along that we hope there will be a resolution," DNC spokesman Damien LaVera said in response to the governors' statement.[USA]
The resolution is that Michigan and Florida must be punished for the culpable behavior of those elite super dems, These delegations should not be seated. Rule violations must have consequences. DO IT OVER AND DO IT RIGHT[trb]
WHY IS THIS ALL IMPORTANT
Although John McCain wrapped up the Republican nomination Tuesday, the stakes over whether the Democratic delegates are seated have grown increasingly high. With only about 100 delegates and superdelegates separating Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, the nomination could end up being decided at the convention. Clinton won both the Michigan and the Florida primaries.[USA]
Clintons win IN MICHIGAN happened after the elite super democrats scheduled early primary in both states. The National Democratic party told the campaigns to stay away, most did except Clinton. How ludicrous to claim these primaries represent the will of the people. They simply demonstrated the incompetence of the elite super Dems.[trb]
Granholm, who supports Clinton, said a week and a half ago on CBS' Face the Nation that she expected the question of whether to seat Democratic delegates from Michigan and Florida would be resolved before the August convention. She told the Detroit Free Press that Clinton's Tuesday victories in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island could open the door to a Michigan caucus.[USA]
Then one should be scheduled it’s the right thing to do. [trb]
"The governor wants our delegates seated. And by what method they're seated remains unclear," SUPER DELEGATE Granholm spokeswoman Liz Boyd said Wednesday.[USA]
A leader would have headed this issue off at the pass.[trb]
But with a caucus expected to benefit Obama and the prospect of 1 million people trying to attend caucuses, there are plenty who say a caucus won't happen. The party could hold a state convention, but only a few thousand people traditionally attend those. The Democratic primary drew 594,398 voters. Obama had pulled his name from the ballot, so most of his supporters voted for Uncommitted.[USA]
OH... NO ...A CONVENTION THAT ACTUALLY MAKES A DECISION IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE WORLD
It's becoming less likely that either Clinton or Obama will have enough of a lead to get the Michigan and Florida delegates seated after clearing the field of rivals.[USA]
Our loss of convention representation should be blamed on Mark Brewer Chairperson of the Michigan Democratic Party and those other super elite democrats that pushed for an early convention.[trb]
FLINTS KILDEES ,GOT ALL BETS COVERED, DALE FOR HILLARY AND DAN FOR BARACK
Rep. Dale Kildee of Michigan said Clinton's victories Tuesday changes the dynamic of the campaign, but he was unsure whether another election should be held as a way of seating the delegates.[USA]
What is your position Congressman or possibly it is to unsafe to have one.[trb]
"We want to make sure that we are seated. That's our biggest goal right now — make sure we're seated," said Kildee, who supports Clinton.[USA]
The super DELEGATES want to go to the party, IT is all about them.[trb]
Michigan has 128 pledged delegates and 28 unpledged delegates waiting to hear from the DNC if they'll be seated. The state also has 21 pledged alternates and 18 committee members who hope to attend the Aug. 25-28 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colo.[USA]
NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR
Washington, DC - Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on Florida and Michigan:
"We're glad to hear that the Governors of Michigan and Florida are willing to lend their weight to help resolve this issue. As we've said all along, we strongly encourage the Michigan and Florida state parties to follow the rules, so today's public overtures are good news. The rules, which were agreed to by the full DNC including representatives from Florida and Michigan over 18 months ago, allow for two options. First, either state can choose to resubmit a plan and run a party process to select delegates to the convention; second, they can wait until this summer and appeal to the Convention Credentials Committee, which determines and resolves any outstanding questions about the seating of delegates. We look forward to receiving their proposals should they decide to submit new delegate selection plans and will review those plans at that time. The Democratic Nominee will be determined in accordance with party rules, and out of respect for the presidential campaigns and the states that did not violate party rules, we are not going to change the rules in the middle of the game.[B]
Thank you.[trb]
CARL LEVIN CAUSED THE MICHIGAN PRIMARY TO BE UNSANCTIONED
Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan, a Democrat who pushed for the Jan. 15 primary, said he doesn't see how a caucus could be held so the Michigan Democratic delegates can get seated.[USA] He should pay for it.[trb]
"I don't see a practical way to hold a caucus in Michigan," Levin said last month. "Given that 600,000 Michigan voters participated in a primary that was held in accordance with Michigan law, it seems to me that it would not be practical or fair to throw out the results of that election."[USA] Hypocrite![trb]
Clinton's Michigan co-chairman, superdelegates Joel Ferguson, called a caucus "a step backward."[USA]
Super elite speak, democracy is messy, you have to let common people have their say.[trb]
Clinton’s eagerness to seat these delegates highlights her mantra: go back on your agreements when it benefits you. As president, what other agreements would she break in order to get ger way? What other promises would she throw out the window? [NYB posted by ewetopia]
Joel Fergeson SUPER DELEGATE said a primary election — so long as it is funded from outside sources, preferably the DNC — could be an option he'd support. The DNC has not offered to pay for a primary or caucus in Michigan.[USA]
You guys caused this mess you should pay for it.[trb]
Ferguson said he disagrees with the delegates being banned by DNC officials.[USA]
Could it be because he is a super elite delegate, whodathunk...[trb]
"The sentence they gave Michigan did not fit the crime," Ferguson said.[USA] An admission THAT scheduling the Michigan Primary early was the equivalent of a crime perpetrated by the super Elite Dems now attempting to save their seats.[trb]
HERE IS ONE THAT CLIMBED OUT FROM UNDER A ROCK
Rick Wiener, a Michigan superdelegates who's not committed to either candidates, said he doesn't know what the next step should be.[USA]
In a pigs eye THAT Rick is not committed to Hillary. He is past chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party. If there is a ruling elite of the state party he is the Prince of Darkness.[trb]
"The DNC created this situation," he said. "It's in their hands to solve it."[USA] Another hypocrite.[trb]
